Ajax 2 v 3 Arsenal (Amsterdam Tournament)

I know I’ve said previously that these pre-season games don’t really mean much and it’s all about the players getting their fitness back. But when you see a game like this you actually think it’s all worth it, especially when your team is 2-0 down and show fight and desire to come back and win the game. I hope that Arsenal can show the same commitment when it is really needed in the season to come.

Adebayor and Bendtner were the players to score the crucial goals to secure Arsenals’ victory. Toure and Cesc made their first appearances of the pre-season. Kolo recovering from his bout of Malaria and Fabregas probably recovering from too mush partying after Spains’ Euro Champs win.

The Gunners started the game in bouyant mood with plenty of chances and were the most dominant team but they just couldn’t beat the keeper. Adebayor in particular was unlucky forcing a good save from the Ajax keeper and a goal line clearance from Anita. But it was the Dutch masters who drew first blood. I’m sure this is going to happen alot next season which is annoying. Arsenal failed to clear a long ball properly (again), Toure headed a clearence straight to Suarez who smashed the ball past Almunia. I think The Londoners were still a bit shocked and conceded another within 3 minutes. Huntelaar got himself on the scoresheet.

Ajax took a hold of the game and had their chances to further their lead, until Eboue’s cross met with Ade25’s head and Arsenal were on their way to victory. Ade25 then setup Nicklas Bendtner and Denilson laid it on a plate for Ade25 to get his brace.

If Arsenal win tomorrow against Sevilla then they will retain their Amsterdam Tournament trophy but I hoping we win more than that this season. The Gunners have alot to work on still, namely defending! We can’t keep conceding first becuase there will come a time when we wont come back.
